Forsyth Humane Society & Fur-Ever Friends
-- Teaming up for a Good Cause!

Through a joint effort, Fur-Ever Friends and Forsyth Humane Society hope to raise enough money to supply every Winston-Salem/Forsyth County fire truck with a 3-piece McCulloch Medical Animal Oxygen Mask set.

Once provided with these special masks, local fire-fighters will no longer have to struggle to make a human mask "fit" a family pet that is struggling to survive the toxic fumes of a house fire.

To learn more about this and to find out how you can help us, please click here.

If you would like to see a sample of these life-saving masks and/or make a donation, please come by our booth at the Art Unleashed! Pet Parade & Festival on Saturday, April 26th from 11 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in downtown Winston-Salem. (See Festival details here.)

    Calling all vendors!

Fur-Ever Friends Adoption & Outreach is gearing up for our first-ever "B-Paws U Care" Shopping Spree fundraiser!  On Saturday, July 19, 2008 from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm, vendors and shoppers will come together in the beautiful Wachovia Center in Winston-Salem, NC for a shopping extravaganza.  Vendors and shoppers will be treated to 7,400 sq ft. of air-conditioned space featuring marble floors and floor-to-ceiling windows.  What a great way to escape from the heat of a steamy July day!

Proceeds from booth rentals/donations will benefit animals and their guardians in the Triad area through educational programs and medical care assistance via our Rico Fund, a sick and injured animal fund.

In preparation for this exciting event, we are currently taking vendor applications.  If you or someone you know would like to participate, please click here for information and here for a vendor application.

Everyone else, please mark your calendars and tell your friends about this fun, beneficial shopping event!

    Come see us at PetSmart!

In addition to our weekly adoption fairs at Forsyth County Animal Shelter on Sundays from 1 - 4, we're now showing adoptable pets on the first and third Saturday of each month at PetSmart on Hanes Mall Boulevard.  The showings feature pets from our rescue partners, and run from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

We are very grateful to PetSmart for providing this opportunity to reach pet-friendly people.  Please come see us at PetSmart and show your appreciation by shopping there!

You can help stop illegal animal-fighting!

State and federal laws have recently been strengthened to increase the penalties for dog and cock fighting, providing officers with better tools to stop this violent abuse of animals.

In addition to the risks to humans in dog-fighting areas, family pets are endangered as well, because animals are often stolen or adopted from "free to good home" newspaper ads for use as bait to train fighting dogs.  Our best weapon against this crime is awareness.  To learn more, please click this link to read an article on the Humane Society of the United States website.

If you see evidence of animal-fighting in your community, please report it immediately to your local law enforcement officers!
