SHARE THE WARMTH
During our neighborhood canvassing and fence builds, we come across numerous situations where dogs have inadequate housing. We have partnered with the Career Center to have high school students build doghouses and ask local animal welfare groups to help distribute them to low income families as part of our Share the Warmth initiative.
Because the need always exceeds the supply, we also use donated funds to purchase doghouses and wood shavings to “SHARE THE WARMTH.” Since November, 2015 Fur-Ever Friends volunteers have delivered 135 doghouses and 340 bags of wood shavings to dogs in our community. Many of them also received new food and water bowls, leashes and longer cables (until we can work to get them UNchained!) We also take the opportunity to educate pet owners of the dangers of cold weather and offer cold weather tips for keeping their pets safe.
We are always needing doghouses, so if you have a gently used one that you would like to donate, please contact us by clicking HERE. We are a non-profit, IRS approved 501(c)3 organization - Federal Tax ID # 11-3714439.
